Jonathan Dickson was not only born in the small booming metropolis of Anderson, SC (ever heard of it?), this boy was born to act. He started acting at an early age entertaining first his family and friends and then the masses. Yes, he was always the class clown and did what every aspiring actor does. GO TO COLLEGE! Jonathan attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, home of the number one team in college football THE FIGHTING GAMECOCKS, and graduated in yes, you guessed it, a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. He then went to medical school...........not really. Sorry Mom! Well on his way in the acting world, Jonathan worked for 5 years after college for WASV 62 in Spartanburg, SC as their on-air television personality. Jonathan was seen by the entire upstate of SC, parts of NC, and also GA. While working for the TV station, Jonathan appeared in over 500 commercials, promos, hosted telethons and parades, meet and greets, and had a lot of fun doing it. He won several awards for his work on TV. He can even be seen dancing in the military scene of the movie THE NOTEBOOK. From there he decided to take the risk and make the jump to New York City to see if he really had what it took to succeed against the best in the business. Jonathan, however, had lots and lots of experience but no formal training so he enrolled at an intense 2 year acting conservatory in Manhattan, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
As fate would have it, in his second year at the conservatory, Jonathan was grabbed outside of class one day by a casting director and asked to read for a TV show. Returning to read one week later for a screen test, he was faced with 50 other guys who looked just like him. Not very encouraging! After reading though, the number of people was dwindled down to 3 and just 2 weeks later, Jonathan was asked to be the lead role in the History Channel’s Breaking Vegas series. He played Dr. Edward Thorpe aka Professor Blackjack. That gig took Jonathan on his first trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Since then Jonathan has been steadily working in the industry with recent gigs including several commercials down South, a SpongeBob SquarePants Burger King commercial for Nickelodeon, The Wisdom Tree kids show, a commercial promo for the new Dean Koontz mystery novel, and a guest starring role on the hit NBC comedy, 30 ROCK, with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Jonathan is represented by About Artists Agency in New York City.
